Scientific Library

The library is a cultural and information center of Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University and plays a significant role in educational process as well as scientific research conducted at the University. Its facilities attract not only lecturers and students of our University, but also the young and professional classes of Astana city.

The library was founded in 1958. The book stock is over 1 billion copies and includes course books, scientific literature, fiction, periodicals, soft copy documents and scientific papers of the faculty of the University.

The facilities of the library comprise 4 specialized reading rooms, a hall of foreign literature, an electronic resources room, 3 circulation divisions and 2 branches. Readers can use Internet resources and the following e-resources:

Each month the Library receives 500 titles of documents, bulletin of new books is compiled and book exhibitions are organized.

“Journal of Seifullin KazATU” and “Science Review” scientific publications are received by reading rooms of the University, circulation divisions of scientific literature and are distributed to research institutions of “KazAgroInnovation” JSC and other libraries. The soft copies of journals are posted on the “Electronic Publishing” page.



The library receives 240 periodicals annually. They are scientific, popular science editions, fiction, abstract journals, as well as national and Russian newspapers.

Freshmen are instructed on "Fundamentals of library science". Library tours and practical training on E-Catalog database are conducted. The latter includes:
- Bibliographic description (BD) of books;
- BD of serial editions;
- Periodicals (in the form of the registration card-index);
- BD of e-documents.

To facilitate working with E-catalog KazATU National Library staff has developed instructional materials for online catalog literature search.
Duty librarian provides support, advice and personal training for library users. He performs the most complicated search himself.
