Energy department


The Energy Department was founded in 1965.

Over the entire period of its activity the at the Faculty were prepared more than 8 thousands professionals, most of them occupy leading engineering and administrative positions in energy companies of the Republic of Kazakhstan and abroad. The Faculty is one of the leaders in Central and Northern Kazakhstan on their profile.

Teaching staff of the Energy faculty includes more than 90 highly qualified specialists, including 11 doctors of sciences, 25 candidates of sciences, 3 Doctors of Philosophy, 17 Masters, 2 teachers are graduates of "Bolashak" program, 6 have the title of professor, four - associate professors and assistant professors. 5 teachers are holders of the title "The best teacher of the university", 2 were awarded various departmental nagradami.11 teachers lead classes in English.

There are 21 laboratories to provide educational process and scientific research at the faculty with the level of equipment that are corresponding for all the necessary requirements, 5 computer classes.

The Center of energy efficiency and the dissemination of knowledge "Astana" was created together with JSC "Kazakhstan Center for modernization and development of housing and communal services" whose task is training and retraining of energy auditors, energy managers and experts.

The center is equipped with modern devices, process models, 20 personal computers, standard reference books, educational-methodological documents of such leading companies as "LEGRAND", "Techno Nikol", "Kazakhstan Pipe Plant", "Penetron", LLP "Energostan" and others. Teachers have certificates of companies such as ENSI (Norway), the USAID CEA (USA), the ICF (Japan), Joanneum (Austria). The centre Included in the list of training centers for retraining and advanced training of personnel carrying out an energy audit and (or) examination of energy saving and energy efficiency, as approved by the Ministry of Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

"Energy management" undergraduate specialization was developed and implemented in the educational process of "Electric Power" specialty in 2013 under the "TEMPUS" program of the European Union together with its partners from Turkmenistan, Germany and Austria.

Scientific research is conducted in areas of renewable energy sources in the agriculture, energy efficiency, and energy management.


The Faculty cooperates with 21 universities and research organizations from 5 countries. In Kazakhstan, 8 companies and organizations are partners of the centre.

Employability of graduates of the faculty was 86% in 2015. In the national ranking of the Independent agency for accreditation and rating in 2015, specialty: 5B071800 - Electricity, 5B071900 - Radio Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications took 4th place, specialty 5B071700 - Heat power engineering - 5th place.In 2016 specialties of a magistracy:6М071800 – Electricity, 6М071900 - Radio Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications, 6М071700 - Heat power engineering took 4th place.

Since 2014 Dean of the Faculty of Energy is a candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Isenov Sultanbek Sansyzbaevich.
